Olean City School District is looking to hire an Assistant Principal
with an anticipated start date of July 5, 2023.
JOB GOAL: To assist the Principal by assuming responsibility for a number
of delegated functions and shared functions. Assume responsibility for
delegated and shared functions in the absence of the Principal.
Salary commensurate per administrator’s contract and experience.

1. At least 5 years of experience in education.
2. New York State School Building Leader (SBL) Certification.
3. Additional qualifications as determined by the Board of Education.

RESPONSIBLE TO: School Principal

JOB GOAL: To assist the Principal by assuming responsibility for a number of delegated functions and shared functions. Assume responsibility for delegated and shared functions in the absence of the Principal.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the execute of district policies and regulation and for the administration, supervision, and evaluation of assigned buildings including:

A. PERSONNEL
1. To assist in in evaluating personnel.
2. To serve as a member of the interview committee for hiring of new personnel.
3. To handle personnel concerns as needed.
4. To develop and coordinate state educational testing programs.
5. To meet with supervisors of special areas such as senior commons, cafeteria, study hall, etc. to establish rules.

B. FINANCE

1. To prepare and submit a proposed budget for the assistant principal and office staff.
2. To collect outstanding debts (example: lunch money owed, payment for lost textbooks, as well as any other debts owed to the school system by families).
3. To communicate with families and students around technology device needs, distribution, collection and care of devices.

C. CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION

1. To cooperatively establish building goals and objectives.
2. To assist with summer school coverage as a building administration in the absence of school Principal.

D. PUPILS

1. To develop positive relationships with high school students as a dynamic adult who understands adolescent development and the high school experience.
2. To develop, implement and maintain student discipline procedures; included in this management system are methods for dealing with student attendance matters, court petitions, student referrals to outside agencies, conferring with students and parents/guardians concerning student problems and coordination of detention and suspension programs.
3. To develop testing schedules, order/distribute state tests and according to state regulations.
4. To keep track of incidents, prepare and submit the Violent and Disruptive Incident Report (VADIR).
5. To attend all meetings as needed associated with the development of student IEP?s.
6. To assist in supervising various after school student activities (examples: dances, Up All Night, Homeless Huskies, etc.).
7. To verify and approve student visitors.
8. To coordinate and preside over the annual student awards breakfasts.
9. To coordinate Saturday Tutorial Sessions.
10. To coordinate the storage and distribution of regional testing materials for Regents and 3-8 testing.

E. PLANT

1. To inspect school plant and grounds regularly and make recommendations for improvements.
2. To assist in making recommendations for school safety protocols related to the building.

F. PUBLIC RELATIONS

1. To promote a positive awareness of school programs, staff members, students and community.
2. To work in conjunction with others to develop and update handbooks (teacher, parent, student).
3. To establish and maintain cooperative, positive relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
4. To maintain confidentiality.
5. To assist staff in maintaining school Twitter account.

G. OTHER

1. To maintain confidentiality.
2. To assume responsibility in the absence of the school Principal.
