The Southern Illinoisan is seeking a full-time multimedia journalist to join its award-winning staff. This position is for a general assignment news reporter who will work up to 40 hours per week, and carries a strong expectation of self-shot video and photo to accompany long form digital story-telling and the ability to act urgently in breaking news on our digital and print platforms.
The Southern Illinoisan, headquartered in Carbondale, is a tri-weekly newspaper in the Southern Illinois region - a vibrant market and home to Southern Illinois University, Giant City State Park and the Shawnee National Forest. Our collaborative newsroom values investigative and urgent breaking multimedia journalism that makes a difference in our community. Our ideal candidate is an experienced self-starter who will bring fresh ideas and creative storytelling skills to our newsroom.
