The Lee Enterprises Design Center is looking for inquisitive, detail-oriented, communicative troubleshooters for its Newsroom Support Team.
Members of this team are liaisons between newsrooms, production teams, advertising departments and the Design Center to promote quality and efficiency in its products and services and use of publishing tools.
This position serves as a key contact for newspapers across Lee, providing insight and recommendations to sites and Design Center managers by:
Regular interaction with newsrooms, advertising departments, designers and design managers is expected, as well as helping triage reported production issues.
Successful candidates must be comfortable digging into issues thoroughly, communicating diplomatically, working across teams, and are expected to provide innovative solutions to recurring process issues. Team members also may provide design assistance in emergency situations.
This position requires at least 5 years of experience in newsroom/production settings (experience in the Design Center qualifies) and candidates must be comfortable interacting with high-level leadership (both from the center and the field). In this position, candidates must be willing to work a schedule that includes some evening, holidays and weekend hours.

- monitoring and reporting on trends for deadline performance and issue and error tracking;
- creating and maintaining a knowledge base of Design Center procedures for training purposes;
- creating and maintaining training materials for newsroom onboarding and ongoing training for newsroom tools and design center procedures;
- assisting in the development of targeted training to improve quality;
- fielding temporary deadline changes and maintaining permanent deadline information;
- communicating regularly with advertising contacts on missing ads and issues that may arise with ads in the production cycle
- updating and maintaining snippets and templates for each enterprise
- performing other duties as needed.
