Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 per year
The Director shall be responsible for the administration, supervision, and coordination of the instructional programs of the District.
Performance Responsibilities:
Curriculum and Instruction
- Exercises leadership in developing a philosophy for instruction and program goals including measurement standards and policies governing promotion, retention, and progress of students.
- Develops and implements both long and short range plans that apply to curriculum, instruction, and staffing needs.
- Provides staff leadership to ensure understanding and promotion of the educational objectives of the District.
- Coordinates the articulation and evaluation of the overall instructional program, including instructional technology, and advances recommendations for its improvement to the Superintendent.
- Directs, coordinates, and evaluates all formal curriculum development and review projects.
- Prepares and implements an annual action plan of curricular and instructional recommendations based on pertinent data including Professional Learning Communities, work, annual Standardized Test and State School Report Card results.
- Serves as a representative on the BOCES Regional Curriculum council and other such groups.
- Assists with the planning, preparation, and development of the annual budget, state aid data, and selected Federal programs.
- Serves as the District’s Chief Information Officer (CIO).
- Coordinates the Academic Intervention Services (AIS) efforts in the District, K-12.
- Directs the data analysis operation of all state testing programs in order to inform instruction.
- Serves as District Testing Coordinator and District Data Coordinator.
- Supports the planning and coordination of staff development and activities in meeting the training needs of the District.
- Assists in classroom teacher recruiting, selection, assignment, and staff development as assigned.
- Assists in evaluating the performance of District personnel as assigned by the Superintendent.
- Establishes goals for professional staff growth each year.
- Serves as Director of technology, including supervising staff, developing budgets, and evaluating instructional technology.
General
- Organizes, develops, and submits federal grants, including Consolidated Applications for ESSA and Universal Pre-Kindergarten applications.
- Meets with appropriate standing or ad hoc committees established by the Superintendent as needed.
- Promotes community understanding and support for the schools.
- Attends meetings of the Board of Education as needed and prepares agenda materials and reports as required.
- Attends conferences and workshops as approved by the Superintendent.
- Serves as a member of the administrative team.
- Performs other functions as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications
- School District Leader certification.
- At least ten years of successful experience in education including teaching, administrative, and/or supervisory experience.
- Experience working with both elementary and secondary teaching and administrative staff.
- Strong communication, problem solving, and human relations skills.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.
